Carol Herrera has over twenty year of experience as an attorney. She has represented both defendants and applicants in the workers' compensation arena. She is extremely well-versed in the defense of complex workers’ compensation matters, including Labor Code Section 132a claims. She has an impressive record of resolving cases with “take nothing” defense verdicts. Carol has also handled matters in the areas of workers’ compensation subrogation and workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
Carol also has experience in the civil litigation arena, particularly in the areas of labor and employment discrimination claims and employment litigation risk management consulting for small businesses.
In addition to small businesses, her range of clients has included permissibly self-insured entities, professional employer organizations and dual employers, as well as Fortune 500 companies, the California Insurance Guarantee Association (CIGA), and major insurance companies such as AIG and AmTrust Financial Services, Inc.
Carol attended the University of California at Los Angeles and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School as well as a Certification in International Law as a result of her legal studies at Oxford University.
She is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, and the U.S. District Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit.
Carol is fluent in Spanish and enjoys outdoor activities including long-distance running, swimming, and perfecting her golf game. She also enjoys engaging in the Socratic method via rigorous readings and discussions with her neighborhood book club.
